Snowstorm Forces Early Closings at Area Public Schools; Other Postponements

With a winter storm watch in effect, most area schools planned half days today.

Early closings were announced by Haverhill Public Schools, Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School, Andover Public Schools, Timberlane Regional School District and Pentucket Regional School District. Methuen also cancelled pre-school and planned early release for other students.

Wave Weather meteorologist Jim Vaughn says the storm watch remains in effect until early Thursday morning. Snow is expected to be heaviest in the afternoon and amount to eight to 12 inches. Stay tuned to Wave Weather every 30 minutes, right here on 97.9 WHAV FM.

Besides early school closings, Pentucket Regional School Committee/Building Committee meeting was rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sweetsir School in Merrimac. A talk by Whittier Birthplace Curator Gus Reusch at the Haverhill Citizens Center has also been postponed to Feb. 21, at 1 p.m.
