Saveria R. “Sally” (Juliano) Catanzaro, 96, Former Hale Nurse

Saveria R. “Sally” (Juliano) Catanzaro, 96, of Bradford, died Sunday morning, Jan. 28.

She was born in Haverhill, May 22, 1921, daughter of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Fazzio) Juliano. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Catanzaro graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1940, and the former Clinton School of Nursing in 1942.

During World War II, she served in the United States Army Nurses Corp. and served in Europe mainly with the 79th Field Hospital. Upon being honorably discharged as a 1st Lt., Sally continued her nursing career and the former Hale Hospital, as well as in various local nursing homes and performing private duty nursing.

She was a longtime member of Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford, and the Haverhill Nurses Association.

She was the wife of the late Frank E. Catanzaro who died in 1989 and sister of the late Joseph Juliano. Her survivors include two daughters, Lois Catanzaro of Delray Beach, Fla., and Cheryl Catanzaro of Haverhill; sister, Patricia McCarron of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Friday morning, Feb. 2, from 11 a.m. to noon, at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel at Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial with Military Honors is in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
