Cakes by Erin’s Erin Erler is on the move. The city baker and sweet shop owner is relocating her business from Kenoza Avenue to the city’s Route 97 stretch in the next few weeks.

As Erler tells WHAV, the new space at 800 Broadway allows her seven-year-old business to expand and offer a larger menu.

“We’re definitely going into a much larger spot, which is nice. It’ll have a very different layout, for us to do a new design with everything we’re doing,” she said. “It’ll be nice to have a fresh start in a new part of Haverhill.”

The new, 1400 square-foot Cakes by Erin shop is located in the strip mall near Have a Heart Animal Hospital. Erler’s staff of three will split their time between both locations until the new Broadway shop officially opens its doors.

Erler plans to be open in time to serve goodies for Valentine’s Day, if not sooner. Cakes by Erin classes are also planned, Erler said.

Currently on the advisory board for Northern Essex’s new downtown culinary school, Erler was adamant about keeping her business in Haverhill.

“It took us a while. We were looking out of the city and I really wanted to stay in Haverhill because I live here, my kids go to school here, and everyone in Haverhill has been amazing to us as a business,” Erler told WHAV. “We fell into this on accident and jumped on it because I knew I wouldn’t have an opportunity like this again.”
