Robert C. Takesian, 90, Active within Trinity Episcopal Church

Robert C. Takesian, 90, of Haverhill, died Saturday morning, Jan. 27, at Boston Medical Center, Boston.

He was born in Haverhill, Dec. 2, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Anjoorian) Takesian.

A graduated of Haverhill High School, class of 1945, Takesian was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Haverhill, since 1938. For more than 27 years he was a member of the Church Vestry, holding all offices and retired holding the position of treasurer for 17 years. Prior to this he was the church financial secretary for 12 years, chairman of Church Fairs for 23 years. He also chaired the Church Group for 30 years by attending the North Shore Music Theater and Boston Pops. He started the Church Scholarship Fund by selling pecans and candy during coffee hours. He was on the committee for all the men’s and women’s communion breakfast and was Man of the Year in 1990. For more 23 years he served as treasurer for the Joy of Ladle, weekly meals served in the Church hall for the less fortunate.

Takesian was brought up in a musical family and also played piano and loved to sing. His interest was Haverhill history where he lived all of his life. His greatest interest was genealogy tracing his family’s roots from the 1890s to present time.

Besides his parents, Takesian was predeceased by his brother Varris “Tuck” Takesian in 2000 and his sister, Lucy Takesian in 2015. His survivors include his cousins, Marjorie Walukevich, Michael Takesian, Charles Takesian and Clara Mancentelli and numerous other relatives.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Tuesday morning, Jan. 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 at H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., in Trinity Episcopal Church, 26 White St., Haverhill. Burial  follows in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Michael J. Walukevich Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St., Haverhill, MA 01832.
