Edward H. Dufresne, 81, City Electrical Inspector 28 Years

Edward H. Dufresne, 81, husband of the late Catherine A. (Maguire) Dufresne, passed away Jan. 27, at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill surrounded by his family.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Cecil Clevesy and Marion (Demarais) Clevesy. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, class of 1954. He was employed at Strykes Electric in Haverhill where he began his career as an electrician. Dufresne was a member of the IBEW Local 103 out of Dorchester from 1963 until 1985. He then became the electrical inspector for the City of Haverhill for 28 years. Dufresne also taught Electrical Code classes’ nights at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill. He was an active, lifelong member of St. James Parish.

Dufresne is survived by his children, James T. Dufresne and his wife Carolyn of Plaistow, N.H., John C. Dufresne of Haverhill, Anne M. Webster and her husband Richard of Atkinson, N.H.; and Mary E. Dufresne of Haverhill; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Dufresne of Newton, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Dawn Dufresne, Jessica Lopez, Katie Webster, Nicole Dufresne, Corey Dufresne, Justine Dufresne, Krystina Dufresne, Molly Dufresne, Kassandra Kemp; seven great grandchildren, Azrial, Zavien, Dylan, Teagan, Tadem, Kenzlee and Amayah; brother, Raymond Dufresne and his wife Helen of Haverhill; brother-in-law William Demand of Haverhill; sisters, Jeanette Marquis of Plaistow, N.H.; Mildred Wall of Salem, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he is predeceased by his son Edward H. Dufresne Jr.; sisters Evelyn Lachapelle and Dorothy Demand.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 4: to 8 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin Thursday morning at 9: a.m., in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill.
