Dorothy Ann Barnes, 91, Retired from Haverhill’s Nelson M. Powell Electrical Supply

Dorothy Ann Barnes, 91, of Haverhill, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Wingate at Haverhill.

She was born in Methuen on March 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Herbert C. and Edith A. (Moss) Weinhold.

Barnes was educated in the Methuen school system and graduated from Searles High School. She furthered her education and earned a degree in bookkeeping from the McIntosh Business School. She was employed at Dyer Clarke Co. in Lawrence and Nelson M. Powell Electrical Supply, Inc. in Haverhill, from where she retired.

She was a former member of the Ayers Village Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, watching the Boston Red Sox, and passionately loving animals and playing cards and games.

Barnes was predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley B. Barnes, who passed away in 1986, two brothers Russell and Burton Weinhold and sister, Shirley Gallant. She is survived by her children, Donald R. Barnes and his wife Christine of Salem, N.H., Mark S. Barnes and his wife Lynne of Haverhill, and Christine Barnes Gagne and her husband Robert of Haverhill, six grandchildren Kimberly Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Michael Barnes, Brian Sciacca and Jason Sciacca, two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Anthony Sciacca, as well as several nieces and nephews.

At the request of her family, funeral services will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to Sarah’s Place at 180 Water St., Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
