Robert F. Fitzgerald, 73, Taxi Driver

Robert F. Fitzgerald, 73, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston with his loving family by his side.

Born in Newburyport, he was the son of the late Freeman and Lavinia (McClain) Fitzgerald. He was raised and educated in the Newburyport school system. Fitzgerald was employed for many years as a taxi driver throughout the Newburyport and Salisbury area. He was a member of the Haverhill Elks and enjoyed a good game of cards and Keno. He also enjoyed spending time fishing. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother who loved spending time with his family, Fitzgerald will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Robert F. Fitzgerald, Jr. and his wife Ami of Haverhill, Diane L. Fitzgerald and Daniel Romaniello of Haverhill, Heather Teal and Mario Morales of Haverhill, a sister, Kathleen Fitton and her husband Leonard of Raymond, N.H., grandchildren Robert F. Fitzgerald III, Alexis Fitzgerald, Zachary Fitzgerald, Kailey Ferguson, Shantel and Ezequiel Cruz, Julius Romaniello, Deyani Romaniello, Armani Romaniello Robert J. Jacobs, Walter Vitalone, Cam Vitalone and Priscyla Aguire, Tyler Fitzgerald, Matthew Moro, Jasiah Teal-Morales, Ashley Oviedo, Dario Manon, great-grandchildren Madyson Jacob, Jathian Dejesus, Lianah Cruz, Cameron Vitalone, Janiyah Cruz and Delaney Vitalone. He will also be missed by his longtime close friend Cindy and several nieces and nephews. Fitzgerald was predeceased by his wife Frances (Sargent) Fitzgerald, daughters, Cheryl L. Fitzgerald and Wendy M. Teal, his brother Gary Fitzgerald and sister Jean Lawler.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be on Thursday, Jan. 25 in Linwood Cemetery, Mill Street, at 2 p.m.
