The results are in! Haverhill’s Fatty Walrus bike race took over Plug Pond Sunday, with its “Arctic Kickoff” trek won by Jake Korn, who finished with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 2 seconds. Logan Kasper placed second and Haverhill’s Ben Powers nabbed third, organizers told WHAV.
Missed out on this weekend’s fun? Registration is now open for the two February Fatty Walrus Bike races, taking place on Feb. 11 and Feb. 25 at Haverhill’s Plug Pond.
Both races kick off on Sundays at 9 a.m. and cyclists will travel the various paths around the Haverhill reservoir and recreation area.
Two courses are available: A Timber Wolves five-mile loop and a 10-mile Polar Bear trek. All cyclists must be 14 or older, wear a helmet and ride a bike with tires that are 3.8 inches or bigger.
Tickets for either course are $25 if cyclists register before 10 p.m. on the Friday before the race. Race day registrations cost $30.
