Haverhill Woman Fires BB Gun at Police During Highland Avenue Standoff

Massachusetts State Police officers, K-9 units and a SWAT team descended on Haverhill’s Highland Avenue Thursday night to support local officers during a standoff with a woman who barricaded herself inside 8 Highland Avenue.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Haverhill Police responded to find the woman barricaded inside and firing shots with a BB gun.

State Police spokesman David Procopio told WHAV members of the regional Northeast Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) were called in for backup support. The State Police Air Wing helicopter was also dispatched to Haverhill, Procopio said.

No arrests were made following the incident.

Haverhill Police had no comment Friday other than to say that the incident was resolved “peacefully.”
