Mother Nature take note: Haverhill is a winter wonderland to be envied—just ask travel website Expedia. The Merrimack Valley city was named as one of 17 “most enchanting” winter destinations, according to Expedia’s latest list of must-visit locales.

Travel writer Lily Rogers tells WHAV Haverhill earned high marks for its average annual snowfall, local scenery and the variety of cold-weather activities.

In the article, Rogers highlights Winnekenni Castle, John Greenleaf Whittier’s birthplace, Ski Bradford and Keon’s restaurant as can’t-miss Haverhill hotspots.

“Haverhill caught our attention because (Winnekenni Castle) appealed to our fairytale fantasies . . . and the surrounding nature and farmlands all spoke to us as an idyllic (if chilly) place to spend a snowy winter getaway,” Rogers said.

Haverhill rated 3 out of 5 for its snowfall and four out of five in Expedia’s rankings of scenery and activities.
