Philip L. Kelley, 86, Peoples of Christ Church Minister

Philip L. Kelley, 86, passed away Monday, Jan. 8 at his home in Haverhill.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Percy W. and Alta (Doe) Kelley. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Kelley was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s Class of 1949. He attended Gordon College and Seminary and was ordained in 1958 in the Peoples of Christ Church. He was a minister in Auburn, N.Y. from 1957 until 1966. Kelley enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably before being discharged in 1957. He was employed for many years as an engineer at Raytheon. In his spare time, Kelley enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, gardening and loved animals.

He is survived by his children, Linda Towle of Auburn, N.Y., Karen Perry and her husband Jamie of Geneva, N.Y., Barbara O’Malley and Gary Boothe of Waterloo, N.Y., Philip S. Kelley of Fairport, N.Y., Paul Irving and his wife Patricia of Pittsford, N.Y., Nola Kelley of Walpole, a sister, Barbara Galle of Rye, N.H. 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be on Friday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
