Haverhill’s Emmaus is gearing up for a community-wide day of service to mark Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

“Journey to Freedom: The Dream Continues” takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 26 White St., Haverhill and features an interactive civil rights exhibit, wellness fair and breakfast and lunch for all attendees.

Walgreens will also be on hand to provide flu shots.

Pre-registration for the event is encouraged by visiting the Emmaus website. The first 130 families to register receive a backpack filled with first aid and personal care items.

Ahead of the event, Emmaus seeks volunteers on Wednesday night to assemble backpacks and on Monday morning to register families and serve the community meal. Interested volunteers can contact Denise at 978-377-0639 to sign up.
