Barbara M. (McCarron) Lavallee, 89, Went to Work at Age 16 to Support Family

Barbara M. (McCarron) Lavallee, 89, of Bradford, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, surrounded by family.

She was born in Bradford, Jan. 11, 1928, daughter of the late Daniel and Clara (Whalen) McCarron. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Lavallee was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Parish.

Her 25 years of employment at the former Western Electric/AT&T began at age 16 in order to support her family following the death of her father. Leaving to raise her family, she returned to Western Electric and retired in 1985.

She was a longtime supporter of Catholic Charities and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Donald A. Lavallee, who died in 1994, and her survivors include two daughters, Dr. Maureen M. Lavallee of Holden, and Susan M. Luscomb of Sandown, N.H.; son, Donald A. Lavallee Jr. of Bradford; and six grandchildren, Alexander and Andrew Van Kleeck, and Siani, Daniel, Nicholas and Hannah Luscomb.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Monday morning, Jan. 8, from 9:30 to 10:30 at H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11, in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial is in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
