Car Rear-Ends Police Cruiser in Accident on Methuen’s Route 213

Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon is warning city residents to avoid the roads at all costs after a car rear-ended a police cruiser on route 213 during Thursday’s snowstorm.

“We are asking that all people remain off the road unless the travel is of emergency nature,” Solomon told WHAV. “The roadways are very slippery and we are experiencing some calls of vehicles spun off the roads.”

Power outages are to be expected, said Solomon.

Thursday morning’s accident, which occurred near the route 28 exit ramp from route 213 west, was one of the Merrimack Valley’s first reported incidents. An ambulance was called, Solomon said.
