Annette B. (Cyr) Smith, 89, Painter and Rug Braider

Annette B. (Cyr) Smith, 89, passed away Dec. 24, at High Pointe House Hospice, Haverhill, after a period of declining health.

Smithwas born in Wallagrass, Maine, Sept. 5, 1928, to Fred B. and Marie (Michaud) Cyr. She was the last-surviving of 13 children. Her early life was spent in Caribou, Maine, where she graduated from Caribou High School.  She then moved to Massachusetts and worked as a telephone operator prior to marrying the late Frank A. Smith Jr. of Haverhill in 1948.  She took great joy and pride in raising her four children. She also worked for a number of years at the former Amesbury Hospital.  Smith lived for a time in Merrimac and Hampstead, N.H., but returned to Haverhill to live at Phoenix Row apartments in 2006.

Smith maintained a lifelong commitment to her Catholic faith, highlighted by a trip to Rome and to Medjugorje, Bosnia. She was a member of All Saints Parish in Haverhill.  She was an accomplished painter and braider of fine wool rugs.

Smith is survived by her four children, Gregory A. Smith of Concord, N.H., Audrey J. Lehane of Shutesbury, Dianne M. Smith of Brookfield, N.H., and David A. Smith and his wife Tina of Merrimac; five grandchildren, Amy Lehane of Easthampton, Corinne Briggs of Easthampton and Kathryn (Katie) Heymann of Ware, and Skylar Smith and Aidan Smith, both of Merrimac; and four great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial follows at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill at 1 p.m.
