A group of Massachusetts police assessors will examine the policies and procedures set forth by Andover Police in an effort to recognize Chief Patrick Keefe’s department with a highly-prized accreditation.

Members of the state’s Police Accreditation Commission are headed to Andover starting on Feb. 6 to take a deep-dive into department protocols, Chief Patrick Keefe said.

Andover’s police station and other facilities will be evaluated during the process of measuring more than 250 mandatory standards of professionalism. In order to achieve accreditation, the department must meet all applicable mandatory standards and 60 percent of 125 optional standards.
