Drivers on Route 213 in Methuen had to pack their patience Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer crash snarled traffic for over an hour.

State Police said a Shaw’s 18-wheeler jumped a guardrail and became stuck just after 11 a.m. on Route 213 westbound in Methuen.

The driver, who crashed near the intersection of I-93, was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. Both lanes of traffic were temporarily closed while the trailer was towed.

Elsewhere on state highways Wednesday, a tractor-trailer carrying oil rolled over onto another vehicle on I-495 near the Chelmsford-Littleton line. Two wrong-way crashes in Boxford and Fall River were also reported on Wednesday. The Fall River victim, a 75-year-old man from Somerset, died from his injuries. A Bradford woman continues to fight for her life as a result of injuries sustained in the Boxford crash.
