Members of the Methuen Police Department brought early holiday cheer to local 3-year-old Brixton Urbanez, sharing toys and a $5,000 donation with the boy as part of Cops for Kids With Cancer.

Chief Joseph Solomon and Mayor Stephen Zanni presented the boy and his parents, Alana and Kadir, with the gifts at a ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Brixton is battling a terminal pediatric brain tumor and was referred to Cops for Kids With Cancer in an effort to help his family defray medical costs. The boy’s mother Alana was forced to take a leave of absence from her job to care for her son during outpatient treatments.

The Canton-based charity has donated more than $2.5 million to families in New England since it began in 2002.
