Six years after the murder of Andover couple John and Geraldine Magee, District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe are renewing their public plea to bring the killer to justice.

On Thursday, the anniversary of the couple’s Dec. 14, 2011 slaying, Blodgett’s office confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing.

“We are seeking to reassure the people of Andover and the friends and family of John and Geraldine Magee that the Essex District Attorney’s Office and the Andover Police are actively investigating this horrific crime,” Blodgett said. “It is our belief that someone knows something that could help us solve the case and bring justice and peace of mind to the Magee family and the residents of Andover.”

John and Geraldine Magee were found shot to death at their home at 7 Orchard Crossing the morning of Dec. 14, hours after their Lexus SUV was found on fire in Boston.

In his plea for the public’s help, Keefe said the Andover Police Department has followed leads across four states and 20 cities in the Greater Boston area. His department has enlisted the aid of the Massachusetts State Police, FBI and Homeland Security, among other state and federal agencies.

“Every member of the Andover Police Department remains committed to finding the person or persons responsible for taking the lives of John and Geraldine Magee,” Keefe said. “We are asking people to search their memories and consciences and come forward with any information that they may have.”
