A 53-year-old Andover driver escaped injury during Tuesday’s evening rush hour when her car became stuck on the tracks near the town’s commuter rail station.

Andover Police spokesman Lt. Edward Guy told WHAV the woman was attempting to turn into Dundee Park and mistakenly drove onto the tracks. She was able to exit the car and make it to a safe area just before the train struck her vehicle.

The train had stopped to discharge passengers and was leaving the station when the crash occurred. No injuries were reported from train passengers.

The area was shut down for approximately two-and-a-half hours while the crash was investigated.
