James M. Thibault, 58, Electrician at Emerson College

James M. Thibault, 58, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton with his loving family by his side.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Bernard E. and Ann F. (LaGrange) Thibault.

Raised and educated in Haverhill, he was a graduate of Whittier Tech High School, Class of 1977. Shortly after graduation, Thibault enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1981. He was employed as an electrician at Emerson College in Boston for many years before becoming disabled.

He enjoyed playing sports, skiing in the White Mountains and fishing on the Little River in Haverhill. An avid sports fan, he loved the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, the Celtics and the Boston Bruins. Thibault enjoyed following NASCAR races and attended with his brother Bernie. He loved all genres of music and was known for his quick wit and happy demeanor in spite of many challenges in his life. He cared deeply for all those in his life, especially his beloved nieces and nephews. He courageously battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 36 years, setting an example of strength and perseverance. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thibault is survived by his loving family, sisters Ann Marie Brooks of Amesbury; Carol J. Plourde of Bradford; brother John R. Thibault and his wife Lisa M. (Corr) of Haverhill; nieces and nephews, Derek Thibault of Salem, N.H.; Cayla Thibault of Orlando, Fla.; Jason Plourde of Salem, N.H.; Edward Bigelow; Christina DiGloria of Haverhill; Kevin Thibault of Haverhill; Jeremy Plourde of Freemont, N.H. and two great-nieces, Aimee Thibault and Lillyanna Thibault. He was predeceased by his brothers William Thibault and Bernard Thibault.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning from the funeral home at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Avenue, Haverhill.
