Shawn Patrick Gavin, 53, of Newton N.H., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.
Gavin was born in Haverhill on Dec. 8, 1963, the son of Donald Gavin and the late Janet A. (Tibbetts) Gavin, who passed away in 2014.
He was educated in the Newton school system and graduated from Sanborn Regional High School. He was employed for many years in construction and most recently at Optimum Building Solutions.
Gavin was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing horseshoes and darts. He was a lifelong New York Giants fan.
Besides his father, his survivors include a son, Shane Gavin of Haverhill, two brothers, Scott M. Gavin and his wife Diana of Seabrook N.H. and Brian W. Gavin of Haverhill, two sisters, Kathleen Laing and her husband Mark of Fitchburg and Ann-Marie Gavin of Newton, N.H., as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral service and burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.
