Andover Home Sustains $100,000 in Fire Damage, No Injuries Reported

Andover firefighters spent nearly four hours extinguishing a house fire at 11 Princeton Ave., on Monday. The one-alarm fire began in the basement, with the fire department alerted to a report of smoke coming from the home at 12:30 p.m.

Two residents of the home exited safely before crews arrived and no injuries were reported. The fire was under control by 1 p.m., with firefighters remaining on scene until about 4 p.m. putting out hot spots.

The 1 ½-story wood frame home sustained heat and water damage in the basement and smoke damage throughout the interior. Damage is estimated at $100,000 and the home has been declared uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Andover Fire Rescue and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
