Ruth A. (Yeo) Huston, 78, Private Care Nurse

Ruth A. (Yeo) Huston, 78, of Merrimac, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, at her residence.

She was born in Boston, Sept., 29, 1939, the daughter of the late George N. and Ruth P. (MacDonald) Yeo.

Educated in the Haverhill and Groveland school systems, Huston earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from Eastern Pilgrim College, Allentown, Penn.

For four years she was employed as an LPN at TELOCA, Merrimac. She worked for Jameson Chemical in Bradford for three years. She also did private care nursing for a number of years throughout the Merrimack Valley and the North Shore.

Huston was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fidelity Chapter 90, Haverhill, Haverhill Women’s City Club. As a young girl, she earned the highest award in Girl Scouts and later was a leader in the Merrimac Cub Scout Pack 14, Scoutmaster of Pack 15 and served on the board for Boy Scout Troop 123. She attended the Haverhill Church of the Nazarene, Haverhill and she was a member of the former Haverhill Alliance Church.

She was the wife of the late Walter R. Huston who died in 1997, and sister of the late George B. Yeo and James Yeo.

Her survivors include a son, Walter G. Huston and his partner Robert J. Pondelli, Jr. of Newton, N.H., siblings Judith N. Yeo of Amesbury, Daniel Yeo and his wife Estella of Derry, N.H., Margaret Lambalot and her husband Robert of Prospect, Conn., Harry Yeo and his wife Marlene of Haverhill, Laurie Perkins and her husband Melvin of Haverhill, Heather Fairbanks and her husband Jeff of Wilton, Maine, Victoria Pettingill and her husband Robert of Haverhill, a sister-in-law Patricia Yeo of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews among whom is Patricia Yeo Pratt of Portland, Maine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, Dec. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Haverhill Church of the Nazarene, 957 Kenoza St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery following the church service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest St., Marlborough, Mass., 01752, or to the American Diabetes Association 260 Cochituate Road, #200, Framingham, Mass., 01701.
