Methuen Mourns Death of Active Duty Firefighter Patrick McKallagat

The Methuen firefighting community is in mourning. Fire Chief Tim Sheehy announced Wednesday that active duty firefighter Patrick McKallagat died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

A six-year veteran of the Methuen Fire Department and the International Association of Firefighters Local 1961, McKallagat was 37. He is survived by his daughter Aliya, parents Stephan and Patricia and brothers Mark and Shaun.

“All of Firefighter McKallagat’s brothers and sisters at the Methuen Fire Department mourn his passing. Pat was a well-respected member of our department,” Sheehy said. “The work of brave firefighters like him keeps our community safe every day. We are extremely grateful for his service, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A funeral mass will be said on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen.
