The Andover Police Department has been recognized for its efforts to keep city residents safe. Officer Glen Ota, the department’s safety officer, was recently awarded a gold level award for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle safety from AAA Northeast.

Betty Ann Zackular and Mary Lu Walsh were named 2017 Traffic Safety Heroes for their work with Andover parents, schools, bus companies and city agencies including the Andover Highway Department to coordinate student travel districtwide. Zackular and Walsh also design safe bus routes and train and supervise Andover’s crossing guards.
