A Methuen man has been arrested and charged with eight counts of assault with a deadly weapon after he fired multiple shots into two Methuen homes early Saturday.

John T. Pappalardo, 51, was taken into custody after a resident of Weybossett Street called police to report shots fired in the area of his home and a neighbor’s home around 1:55 a.m. Officials later determined that each property was struck by bullets. No injuries were reported.

Upon investigation, authorities learned Pappalardo had been seen driving a dark colored pickup truck away from the scene. A vehicle matching a description of Pappalardo’s vehicle was parked outside his residence. Police made contact with Pappalardo inside his home and took him into custody without incident.

Held on $50,000 bail, Pappalardo is also charged with two counts of malicious damage over $250 and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He will be arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Monday.
