Marlene E. (Comeau) FitzGerald, 84, Former Hale Hospital Employee

Marlene E. (Comeau) FitzGerald, 84, wife of the late Philip D. FitzGerald, passed away Oct. 26, at High Pointe House in Haverhill surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Maurice J. and Susan M. (Munroe) Comeau. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s Class of 1950. FitzGerald was employed at the former Hale Hospital for many years as a Union Agent and also worked in the Admitting Office until her retirement in 1999. She volunteered at St. John the Baptist Church and was a “tuck in” volunteer for Merrimack Valley Hospice.

FitzGerald was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and doting grandmother to her 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and anyone else who needed a Nana.

She is survived by her children, Pamela S. Daggett and her husband Michael of Haverhill, Cynthia J. McKallagat and her husband Shawn of Haverhill, Kathleen E. Greene and her husband Richard of Haverhill, Daniel P. FitzGerald and his wife Pamela of Grafton, Susan A. Kelleher and her husband Kevin of Bradford, her grandchildren Matt and Meg Daggett, Matt and Kate (McKallagat) Fleming, Pat and Kate (Thompson) McKallagat, Dan and Melyssa (Chadwell) McKallagat, RM, Zach and Jake Greene, Sam, Alex and Maddie Kelleher, three great grandchildren Callie, Harper and Jameson, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, William J. Comeau, Geraldine Lanen and Suzanne Chareth.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said Tuesday, Oct. 31 at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. Burial followed in Linwood Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to High Pointe House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830.
