Jeno Martin, 81, Won Silver Medal in 1952 Helsinki Olympics

Jeno Martin, 81, husband of Arline S. (Rogers) Martin, passed away Oct. 29 at Hannah Duston Healthcare in Haverhill with his loving family by his side.

He was born Sept. 20, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary.

A fan of nature and camping, Martin enjoyed reading, hiking and creating Austrian meals for his family. Like any good chef, he would always wait to eat until the family took their first bite and gave him a nod of approval. Martin worked as a manager for 15 years for Lauriat’s book store, traveling across New England to set up and open new stores for the company. When Lauriat’s closed, Martin worked for Hewlett Packard as a logistics manager for 20 years until his retirement.

Martin was a member of the men’s soccer (football) team and won a silver medal in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

He leaves his beloved wife Arline of 35 years, children Kimberly Hosford and John Tyler of Haverhill, Stephen LaMarca and Drina Ramsdell of Haverhill, grandchildren Michael Russell Jr. and his wife Christine, Jennifer Roy and her husband Justin, Stephen LaMarca Jr. and Stephanie LaMarca, four great grandchildren, Hazel, Livia, Chase and Ella, brother-in-law Ronald Rogers and his wife Sharon. Martin was predeceased by his son-in-law Richard Hosford III.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. Donations may be made in his memory to MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen.
