Missing Haverhill Man David Risch Found Safe in Beverly

One week after wandering away from a Haverhill nursing home, 58-year-old David Risch has been found safe and well, Haverhill Police confirmed to WHAV Thursday.

He was located in Beverly, police spokesman Det. Lt. Robert Pistone told WHAV.

An extensive search effort was launched by Haverhill Police with support from surrounding communities after Risch was declared missing. Massachusetts State Police issued a silver alert, to alert the public to high risk missing adults, on Monday. In their alert, State Police said Risch suffered from a serious memory impairment and was in need of medication.

In a Facebook update Thursday morning, Haverhill Police reported that Risch was seen in Rowley on Sunday, Oct. 22. During his interaction with police, Risch provided a false name to officers, who did not realize his true identity until later. Officers reported that Risch appeared to be in good health and did not show signs of distress.

At the time, HPD suggested that Risch may be headed to the Metro Boston area.
