Atkinson, N.H., Police Monday arrested a 27-year-old man who was discovered in a Pages lane home.

A resident came home about 5:45 p.m., and discovered an unknown man inside. The man—later identified as Adam J. Ward, of Pittsfield, N.H.—claimed he was looking for someone else who has never lived there. The intruder then fled, police said in a statement.

The resident was able to get a vehicle description and a license plate number, which was broadcast to area police departments. Ward’s vehicle was stopped a short time later in Brentwood, N.H., and detained on unrelated charges. Meanwhile, Atkinson officers obtained an arrest warrant.

Ward is due in court date Dec. 8.

    • It shows though that no neighborhood is safe any longer. People must be capable of defending themselves. That homeowner had no idea he was not going to be violent.
