Expect some traffic confusion downtown beginning today.
Because of the MBTA Railroad Bridge construction project, Washington Street will be blocked at the bridge overpass from 7 a.m., Tuesday, through 7 p.m., Thursday.
Detours will be available at Washington Square at Essex Street and the intersection of Washington Street at River Street near the Comeau Bridge. There will be signs and police officers available to help direct traffic.
Washington Street businesses will remain open downtown.
The well-traveled street carried two state highways—routes 110 and 113.
Thank you Tim for alerting us of the situation. I was planning to travel Washington Street and River Street TO 495 this morning. You have saved me a lot of time and inconvenience and I will now use 97 as an alternate route. WHAV is doing an excellent job in serving Haverhill.
