Hollis R. “Hawk” Emery, 70, Former Haverhill Police Officer

Hollis R. “Hawk” Emery, 70, of Hampton, N.H., and formerly of Haverhill, passed away Oct. 6, at his home surrounded by those he loved following a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Cindy (Allen) Emery.

Born in Haverhill Sept. 19, 1947, Hollis was the son of the late Hollis I. and Glady (Wightman) Emery. Hollis graduated from Haverhill Trade School, class of 1966. He worked for the former Vernon Plastics while serving as a reserve policeman until a full time position became available. He then honorably served the City of Haverhill as a police officer for 20 years before retiring in 1995. Hollis served many years as a member of the 101st Engineer Bn. of the Mass Army National Guard. Hollis was a member of Amvets Post #147, he enjoyed playing darts with his friends, and was an avid fan of Boston’s sports teams.

In addition to his wife of four years, Hollis is survived by his children, Michael M. Emery and his wife Elise of Lake City, Fla., Season Hitchcock and her husband Russell of Salem, N.H.; step-children, Lisa McIlveen and husband Leonard of Exeter, N.H., Michael Allen of Hampton, N.H., Scott Allen of Salem, Paul Benjamin of Kingston, N.H.; three granddaughters, Mickala, Brooke and Hannah; seven step-grandchildren; one great grandson, Liam Emery; siblings, Dean, Richard, Gladys and Sandra, and several nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Sunday Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. at Dole, Childs and Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. Calling hours precede the service from 11 to 1 p.m.
