Blanche M. Johnson, 97, Worked at Bixby Box Toe Co.

Blanche M. Johnson, 97, of Haverhill, died Sunday, Oct. 8, at her home after a short illness.

She was born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Lang) Johnson. She was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School with the class of 1938. Johnson worked for many years at Bixby Box Toe Co., Haverhill. She moved and became office manager of Bartlett Egg Co., Lawrence, from where she retired in 1985. She was a member of All Saints Parish and belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne.

Johnson enjoyed crafts, reading and solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed golfing at Crystal Springs and became the women’s golf champion for several years. Following her retirement she traveled some, but her best vacation time was spent at a cottage on Sebago Lake where she went for several weeks for many years.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Rose; several nieces and nephews; and best friend Gerry Ferronetti, and all the members of the Ferronetti family who treated Blanche as a member of their family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 to 11 a.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service follows at 11:15 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial is private and at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill, Ma 01832, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
