Police are looking for the driver of a car that crashed into a River Street fire hydrant early Saturday morning and came to rest partially on its side against a utility pole.

The driver of the car was seen fleeing on foot after the crash just after 5 a.m., at 585 River St. Registration indicates the vehicle is owned by a Lowell resident, but police said Sunday they still have not made any arrests. An investigation by Officer Kevin O’Brien is continuing.

The car is believed to be a Honda S2000.
