If the School Committee gives the OK, 74 Haverhill High School students and assorted staff and chaperones will become world travelers during the April school break.
Social studies teacher Ted Kapinski plans to take 47 junior and senior students on a tour of Switzerland, Amsterdam and Italy from April 11 to 22 to study European history from ancient Rome to modern times.
French teacher Souleymane Wane seeks approval to take 12 sophomores and juniors to Paris from April 14 to 21. Wane said he intends for his students to leave France with an understanding of the traditions, perspectives and practices of the French people.
Fifteen Global Studies and International Relations students will accompany history teacher Tori Pettis to Beijing to complete the second half of an exchange program between Haverhill High and Tangshan No. 1 High School. Several Haverhill families hosted Chinese students in February when they spent more than a week attending HHS and touring the area. The Chinese students and their families will return the favor from April 12 to 22.
The School Committee meets Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. Council Chambers on the second floor of Haverhill City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
