Rachel F. Hassett, 41, Court Officer Stricken Monday

Rachel F. Hassett, 41, of Haverhill, passed away Sept.18, at Steward Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.

Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of Robert A. and Linda P. (Brunelle) Hassett. Raised and educated in Lowell, she attended Lowell High School, class of 1993. She then attended the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, receiving a bachelor’s in English. Hassett was employed as a court officer in the Haverhill and Lawrence District Courts where she had many friends and was well liked. A lover of animals, she volunteered at the Sweet Paws Animal Rescue in Essex. She enjoyed traveling, especially Disney World, the Caribbean on cruises and Cape Cod. Most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She was a kind and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew her.

Hassett is survived by her parents, Robert A. and Linda P. (Brunelle) Hassett of Truro; brother, Matthew Hassett and his wife Dawn of Leland, N.C.; grandmother, Joan Brunelle of St. Augustine, Fla.; niece, Harper Hassett; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, Sept. 22, from 4 until 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Sweet Paws Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 752, Essex, MA 01929.
