A company interested in opening a medical marijuana dispensary in Haverhill will make its pitch to the City Council this week.
Mayor James J. Fiorentini requested that the council hear a proposal from Alternative Therapies Group of Newburyport. The company’s application also will be sent to the Marijuana Advisory Committee.

The City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. Council Chambers on the second floor of Haverhill City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
Alternative Therapies Group was the first company to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Massachusetts, at 50 Grove St., Salem in June 2015. The company operates a cultivation site in Amesbury at 10 Industrial Way.
Alternative Therapies Group also has sought backing for dispensaries in Watertown, Danvers, Saugus, Merrimac and Methuen. It has received a letter of non-opposition from Danvers and is one of three companies in the running for a letter of support in Methuen.
Fiorentini has said that he supports allowing medical marijuana to be sold in the city, and estimates that an agreement with the chosen firm could bring $300,000 a year to the city’s coffers.
According to state law, companies are allowed to own up to three medical marijuana dispensaries.
The company’s executive director, Chris Edwards, and CFO Julio Fuentes are expected to attend Tuesday’s meeting.
Sanctuary Medicinals appeared in front of the council in June to ask for the city’s support to locate a dispensary on Shelley Road in the Ward Hill Industrial Park. Currently, the only area approved for medical marijuana sales is an 80-acre parcel at Research and Computer drives, off Broadway.
Company CEO Jason Sidman of Salem, N.H., said Sanctuary Medicinals was the first company to open a medical marijuana dispensary in the state of New Hampshire. Its first Massachusetts dispensary operates in Gardner.

Last time Failurentini teamed up with liberal hack Jim Jajuga to falsify documents which should gotten mayor taxman disbarred and both disqualified from ever holding future public office. How ironic is it that Bob Scatamacchia, the guy that called these two frauds out on their lying and manipulation, is the guy that ended up in jail?
And now here we go again. Is the city council actually going to go through this again with the mayor? What a bunch of puppets. Is there even one city councilor who isn’t afraid to say “no” to the mayor?
