Haverhill’s citywide River Ruckus celebration will take over downtown on Saturday, Sept. 23 with music, children’s activities, food and much more.

The annual event aimed at celebrating the city’s cultural resources kicks off at noon with a classic car show on Washington Street. Later, an estimated 5,000 attendees will have the opportunity to participate in free Zumba classes, wander through a beer and wine garden at Riverfront Park and listen to live music all day long.

Soul Asylum’s Dave Pirner will cap off the River Ruckus with a set starting at 6:15 p.m. Fireworks over the Merrimack River will follow from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
