Lawrence Man Arraigned for Strangulation Murder of Methuen Woman

A Lawrence man has been arraigned on first-degree murder charges stemming from the alleged 2016 strangulation death of the mother of his young son.

On Friday, Emilio DeLarosa, 33, was ordered held without bail by Salem Superior Court Judge Thomas Drechsler. His case is to be continued on Sept. 22 with a pre-trial conference, according to District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett’s office.

DeLarosa is accused of strangling Wanda Rosa, 29, to death in her Methuen home on Sept. 12, 2016, in front of their young son as the four-year-old pleaded with DeLarosa not to hurt her.

Rosa had an active restraining order in place against DeLarosa at the time of her death.

Named to the Massachusetts Most Wanted list, DeLarosa was arrested in Patterson, Calif., in September, nearly a year to the day of Rosa’s murder.
