YWCA Chapter Changes Name to Better Reflect Seven Area Locations

The YWCA of Greater Lawrence, which assumed control of the Haverhill YWCA several years ago, is changing its name to YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts.

The new name better represents the YWCA chapter’s expanded service area, which includes seven sites in Lawrence, Haverhill, Lynn and Salem, N.H.

“We remain a social change organization which exists today for the same reasons it was founded back in 1892: to assure that women have the tools, skills and opportunities needed to become and remain personally and economically self-sufficient,” according to Susan Staples, executive director.

YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts serves more than 15,000 people each year.
