The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Haverhill Foundation recently presented donations to three local charitable groups.
Sarah’s Place Adult Day Health Center received $350; Community Action, $500; and Merrimac Heights Academy, $450.
Donations were presented at AHEPA 39 apartments, a 54-unit affordable senior housing complex on the site of the former Hale Hospital, 40 Buttonwoods Ave. AHEPA traces its roots back to 1922 when the organization was founded to respond to bigotry and racism spreading through American society and help Greek immigrants assimilate into society. AHEPA Acropolis Chapter 39 Fraternal Organization is the local branch.
Sarah’s Place Adult Day Health Center is a nonprofit adult day health program, providing daily support and allowing residents to remain in their own homes, while Community Action provides resources and opportunities for individuals, families and communities to overcome poverty. Merrimac Heights Academy is a private, nonprofit school for students ages 12 to 22 with complex learning, language, and social challenges.
