I-495 Lanes Subject to Closure This Weekend as Repaving Begins

The on and off again planned lane closures of I-495, near Bradford, are on again, beginning tonight.

Massachusetts Department of Transportation said one or two lanes of the highway, between exits 48 and 49 at the Merrimack River Bridge, will be closed as repaving takes place, capping off a $2.9 million temporary repair project.

Southbound lane reductions take place between 7 p.m., Friday, through 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, and 7 p.m., Saturday, through 10 a.m., Sunday Aug. 27. On the northbound lanes, closures take place from 7 p.m., Saturday, through 8 a.m., Sunday, and from 7 p.m., Sunday, through 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 28.

Officials said those traveling through the area should expect delays.

While state transportation officials have said replacement bridges are still in the works, the current project will help smooth out the roadway.
