Local artists, purveyors of history and other cultural nonprofits have an opportunity again this year to receive grants from the Haverhill Cultural Council.
Applications to share money from a pool of up to $25,000 in Massachusetts Cultural Council funds will be accepted online beginning Sept. 1, Alison Colby-Campbell, vice chairman, and Ruby Lyons, treasurer, of the Haverhill Cultural Council, told WHAV’s Open Mike Show audience Monday night.
“We want to bring a cultural vision to Haverhill to provide the most opportunities to the most people to get involved with cultural in our city,” Colby-Campbell said. Lyons added, “We want to be able to show the rest of the state what Haverhill has to offer,” Lyons added.
Last year, 21 of 41 applicants received money from the council. While all requests totaled about $95,000, there was only about a quarter of that much available. Grant requests are due by Oct. 17. Applications and guidelines are available at www.mass-culture.org/haverhill. An information night takes place Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m., at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St., Haverhill.
