Glenn DeGryse, 98, of Haverhill, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 8, at his residence.
He was born in Snyder, Colo., Dec. 3, 1918, son of the late Edmund and Bessie (Lyberger) DeGryse). Educated in the Snyder school system, DeGryse graduated from Snyder High School, class of 1936.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army and stormed the beach in Normandy and fought in the European theater. He attained the rank of PFC.
He moved to Bradford in 1962 and was employed as an analyst at the former Western Electric for over 32 years from where he retired in 1986. DeGryse was a member of Sacred Hearts Parish, Bradford, the DAV, Beverly, and Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was the husband of the late Victoria (Terzian) DeGryse who died in 1991 and brother of the late Ruby Stumberg and Donna Burch, Ada Stanley, Bessie Christensen and Renalda Scott.
His survivors include his wife of 23 years, Dorothy (Scandura) DeGryse of Haverhill; sister, Joanne Skaggs of Colorado, as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews in the Merrimack Valley area and Colorado.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, Aug. 15, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a graveside service in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill, at 2 p.m.
