MassDOT Says ‘Nevermind’ About Those I-495 Lane Closures

Plans, announced only yesterday, to close up to two lanes on the north and southbound lanes of I-495 near Ward Hill this weekend and next have been postponed.

Transportation officials said Thursday “off-peak, overnight lane reductions” for the stretch of the highway at the Merrimack River Bridge, between exits 48 and 49 have been postponed.

“The resurfacing operations that required these lane reductions are being rescheduled and will occur in upcoming weeks in order in order accommodate ongoing activities at this location,” a statement said.

Northbound lanes were to be paved this weekend and southbound lanes next weekend as part of a $2.9 million temporary repair project.
