Russell J. Janvier, 94, Managed Snow White Laundry

Russell J. Janvier, 94, of Bradford, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 5, at his home surrounded by his family.

For many years, Janvier worked as the manager at his father’s laundromat, Snow White Laundry, which sold in 1956. After the laundromat sold,  Janvier was employed at Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1981.

Janvier was a parishioner at Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford and was the organist there from 1950 to 1970. He was also a member at the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford and the French Social Club in Lawrence.

Janvier was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Hope (Gagnon) Janvier who passed in 2012; son, William E. Janvier in 2016 ; and a grandson, Kevin Anderson in 2014. He is survived by three children, Joseph G. Janvier and his partner Denis Hall of Haverhill, Stephen R. Janvier of Alexandria, La., and Mary Schook and her husband Lauren of Starrucca, Penn.;  foster son, Richard Lacasse and his wife Linda of Methuen; sister Claire R. Gibeau of Florida; eight grandchildren, Vanessa Bretton, Shaun Janvier DMD, Jessica King, Heather Keuenhoff, Robert Schook, William Janvier, Amy Nazzaro and Adam Janvier; 10 great grandchildren with two on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St. (route 125) Bradford. His funeral service is Thursday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford, at 11. Burial follows in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund, 31 South Chestnut St. Bradford, MA 01835.
