Another 20-Something Enters Race to Succeed Rep. Dempsey

Massachusetts House of Representatives.

George Bonner has become the third candidate to take out nomination papers for Haverhill’s Third Essex state representative seat.

Bonner, 22, enters the race against School Committeeman Paul A. Magliocchetti and Haverhill City Councilor Andy Vargas on the Democratic side and Shaun P. Toohey on the Republican side. Other possible candidates include School Committeeman Scott W. Wood.

Bonner, who took out nomination papers last week from the Haverhill City Clerk’s office, could not be reached for comment before news deadline.

The House seat is being vacated by Rep. Brian S. Dempsey, who plans to retire from the Massachusetts legislature in September as he takes a top position at well-known Boston lobbying firm, ML Strategies.

The special primary election takes place Tuesday, Oct. 10.

  1. Lawrence tribune April 1 2012, Paul was working on 60 million art center for Haverhill. Was that an April fools joke? If it was we don’t need people like that in the MHoR.

  2. You gotta check out Acorn Andy’s Facebook page. Even as Obamacare, the biggest failed social welfare program in history has collapsed in certain areas of the country leaving millions of people without an insurance company to buy healthcare from, rates and deductibles are up everywhere, and people have lost the ability to maintain their doctor as Obama promised, there’s Andy on his FB page saying that healthcare should be a “right” for all Americans. Sure, just as long as someone else is paying for it, right Andy?

  3. George, weren’t you pay attention when liberal main stream media was bashing President Trump for getting billions of dollars in free advertising when he was campaigning for office? Hint: When you’re running for office and the local newspaper wants to interview you, answer the phone.
