Haverhill’s Community Action Inc. aims to take the stress out of first-time home buying with a series of workshops for local residents in August.
Beginning on Aug. 10, the First-Time Homebuyer Education Program, approved by MassHousing, will provide comprehensive information from bank lenders, real estate brokers, housing attorneys, insurance agents, home inspectors and credit counselors. Participants can inquire about individual household mortgage pre-certification and get information about down payment assistance programs, reduced interest loans and foreclosure sales, among other topics.
Upon completion of the three-night course, attendees will receive a Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative-approved certificate. There are no income requirements to take the training.
The cost for the workshops – held Thursday, Aug. 10, Tuesday, Aug. 15 and Thursday, Aug. 17 – is $60 per household. The workshops will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Presidential Gardens Community Room, 140 Evergreen Drive, Bradford.
