Doris J. “Dottie” (Bedard) (Bonnell) Chase, 73, Hale Nurse

Doris J. “Dottie” (Bedard) (Bonnell) Chase, 73, of Orange City, Fla., formerly of Haverhill and Hampstead, N.H., passed away peacefully in her sleep while on vacation at Newfound Lake. She was the wife of Benjamin R. Chase and the late William L. Bonnell.

Born in Haverhill Nov. 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Cecile A. (Langevin) Bedard. She graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1961, and continued her education where she earned her license as a licensed practical nurse. After having worked as a LPN at the former Hale Hospital, she joined Western Electric where she worked as an assembler for 20 years prior to her retirement. She and her husband split their seasons between New Hampshire and Florida. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Haverhill, and attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Hampstead. Chase was a member of the Pioneer Clowns, and a longtime member of the Red Hats. She was an accomplished oil painter, and enjoyed playing bingo and cards with friends. When in Florida, she volunteered at Fish Memorial Hospital.

Beside her husband of 48 years, she is survived by her family, Mark Bonnell and his wife Janet of Gilford, N.H., Wendy Bundzinski and her husband Ron of Sandown, N,H,, Gary Bonnell of Haverhill, Jennifer Alexander and her husband Jeffrey of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Justin Bundzinski, Austin, Joey and Angela Bonnell; and sister, June Collins and her husband Ronnie of Salem, N.H. She was the sister of the late Pauline Ducheman, Lorraine Valley, Carol Grieco, Roland Bedard, and grandmother of the late Joshua Bonnell.

Relatives and friends are invited to join in a celebration of life from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 27, at Dole, Childs and Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill. The family will hold a private ceremony at Walnut Cemetery Friday. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
